Karl F. May stories have a huge group of followers in many countries

The novelist Karl F. May is one of the most famous German authors of the twentieth century. He was given birth to on February 25, 1842 and passed away on March 30, 1912. At least 200,000,000 copies of Karl F. May’s books have been purchased all over the world. The best-known characters of Karl May’s stories are Old Shatterhand and Winnetou. Winnetou is the intelligent chief of the Apache Tribe, and Old Shatterhand is his white pal.
From 1912 to 1968 there were publicized 23 films following Karl F. May’s novels. The American actor Lex Barker became very popular for acting as the character of Old Shatterhand. Another well-known Karl May character is Old Shurehand. The British actor Stewart Granger played the role of Old Shurehand in 3 films. The movies were very successful, although partially only inaccurately reflecting the original Karl Friedrich May volumes.
The Karl F. May works have been translated into over thirty-five languages and have been released all over the world. They are popular even in countries like Mexico and Hungary. Karl May wrote the the 3 Old Shurehand books and the first three Winnetou novels before 1900. They are set in the illustrious Wild West of America.
